Even though New Zealand is one of the youngest countries in the world it is still a leader in the adventure sport industry. Bungy jumping was invented here by AJ Hackett in the 1980’s and has become world famous since. Bungy jumping is truly an amazing rush and has spawned its fair share of ‘adrenalin junkies’. No where is more famous for this than Queenstown, the world’s adventure capital and home to the very first (and still operational) bungy site in the world!
Although there is a large perceived risk and many back down while on the platform itself it is in actually fact a very safe sport. Even hiking produces many more injuries every year in New Zealand than bungy jumping. The fear of heights is natural and it is the overcoming this fear that produces the endorphins and immense sense of satisfaction that comes when conquering ones fears! It is truly an amazing experience and a must for all New Zealand adventure tours.
